How to Setup an Email Account on Outlook Express

Before you begin to setup an email pop account, make sure you have following information:

  • email address
  • username and password
  • POP3 server name or IP address
  • SMTP server name or IP address

Lets start....

  1. Open Outlook Express and select the "Tools" menu then "Accounts".
  2. Click the "Add" button and select "Mail".
  3. Under "Display Name" type the name you want to use for this email account.
  4. Click the "Next" button.
  5. Select "use an already existing email address".
  6. In "Email Address" type in your email address
        example - hello@mydomain.com. (it can be <anyting>@mydomain.com)
  7. Click the "Next" button.

Setting up the Mail Server Information:

  1. In "My Incoming Mail Server", select "POP3"
        (This should be the default).
  2. Type yourdomain.com in the Incoming Mail POP Server.
        (normally something like 'mail.mydomain.com')
  3. Type yourdomain.com in the Outgoing Mail SMTP Server.
        (normally something like 'mail.mydomain.com')
  4. Click the "Next" button.
  5. User name - type in your user name.
        (using the hello@mydomain.com email address as an example, the username could be either "hello" or "hello@mydomain.com")
  6. Password - type in your password.
  7. Click the "Next" button.
  8. Click "finished"

All done!

Simply repeat the steps above to set up additional accounts.
